Annie Portner is a designer at HLW, an avid runner, a Drexel Alum, & film photographer. Although workplace is her primary focus, she has worked on hotel, healthcare, and higher education projects. She draws inspiration from the cities she’s lived in, from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, and now New York City. She feels designers, at their core, are problem solvers. Problem solvers that impact the way people live and work on a daily basis.
Out of the Woodwork
The future is unsaved. Our work environment, like our current nation, is in a state of unrest. Taken from inspiration of New York City’s streets & avenues, and the daily actions that occur on those streets & avenues, “Out of the Woodwork” is a contemporary framework for adaptable work-spaces. Made from a Tetris-like formation of Bene Box, proximity can be adjusted & readjusted for whatever tomorrow may bring. Conceptualized from the city’s state of continuous organized movement, “Out of the Woodwork” views our common everyday organizations & applies the concept to the work environment. Dedicated circulation paths, hard durable surfaces, and division of space cements the concept together.
